Victory Promotions made a huge announcement this afternoon; four of the North East’s top fighters will go head-to-head in a winner-takes-all tournament at Battle of the North 2 in April.

Rumoured to be contested at 61kg with B-Class Muay Thai rules, we will see Gary Laws of Northern Kings, Leif Taggart of Chokdee in York, Matty Maguire of Phoenix Muay Thai and Stephen Williams of Jai Suu.

Matty Maguire and Stephen Williams headlined the previous Victory Promotions show back in June where Matty took the decision to win the UKMF Area Title in a fight-of-the-night contest. There is also the potential of other possible rematches between Gary Laws and Matty Maguire, as well as Leif Taggart and Gary Laws, where Leif took the decision back in 2014.

Leif, who is currently ranked #3 ahead of Gary Laws at #4 in the UK K-1 Independent Rankings, recently competed at Super Fight Series in St Albans where he lost the WKA British title via a decision in a fight-of-the-night contest against Anthony Ferguson.

All four fighters have the potential to win this and each of the three fights throughout the tournament have the potential to be fight-of-the-night.
